Belisle Gets $1.25 Million Contract

Matt Belisle and the Reds agreed to a $1.25 million deal today avoiding arbitration. Brandon Phillips remains the last Reds player left in arbitration. It will be interesting to see what he’ll make after last years 30-30 performance.

I’d love to see the Reds sign Phillips to a 4 or 5 year deal. I think he’s only going to get better after establishing himself last year as one of the National League’s best second basemen (and he got totally shafted when he didn’t win the Gold Glove).

He really seems to have embraced the Reds and the city, and seems to have gotten over the immaturity that plagued him in Cleveland.

agreed, i’d love that also. i heard he would like to be a lifer with the reds which is awesome. he really does seem to enjoy playing here. you’re right, he really got it hard not winning the gold glove.
