Port Charlotte is no longer a dump

From Hal McCoy’s blog on DDN’s Web site:

The exhibition season start Wednesday with the Reds visiting Tampa Bay at their refurbished digs at Port Charlotte.

The Rays are worried they might run out of baseballs. There is a retaining pond behind the left field fence that is a refuge for wildlife and is designated a preserve. It has an alligator or two, poisonous snakes, birds and a whole lot of baseballs that can’t be retrieved.
