Got an extra $2300 lying around?

If so, this 1972 NLCS Reds ring posted on Craigslist can be yours. The poster calls it “very rare, only one of two I’m aware of.” Which begs the question: What happened to the other ones? Were there only two made?

I dunno, maybe I just need to get a second job if I’m going to try to keep collecting stuff. After all, you can’t find a 2009 Topps Tribute Baseball Hobby Box for less than $300. 6 PACKS PER BOX, 5 CARDS PER PACK! That’s 30 cards! $300!

Here’s a video on of a dude breaking open a box of 2009 Topps Tribute he says was supplied by Topps. Which begs the question: How do I get Topps to supply me with a box? Anyway, dude’s best pull is a Babe Ruth Black Triple Relic Base Card (numbered to 50).

That looks like a ring they would give out as a stadium giveaway. While I’m sure there are not too many floating around after 37 years, there’s no way that’s even close to being worth $2,300.

Anyone out there know if this was an SGA? Or, is truly one-of-a-kind?

I have one, still in the original box. I believe it was a giveaway early in the 1973 season. I was 13, so if I bought it I don’t
remember. I always thought it was worth maybe $10.00, so
it can’t be that rare. I did a spit take when I saw that ad.
    Enjoy the Blog !

I forgot to mention, that ring is a replica of the ring the players
received for winning the NL pennant. So it could not have been
given out in 1972. Kind of like the replica ring the Reds gift shop
    sold after the 1990 season.
