Lots of stuff happening downtown for Reds Opening Day. For the most part, bars are just having drink specials and not doing too much in the way of creativity. For a nice list of where to get a bucket of beers and some hot cornhole action, check this list on CiN Weekly er… Metromix. If you’re up for something with a little more panache, here are a few events we found interesting:
Jake Speed’s Opening Day Extravaganza!
Arnolds’ Bar and Grill (Map!)
Jake Speed is the man, and you need to see him live to see why. You may not find a bigger Reds fan – the guy bleeds Cincinnati. Oh – make sure you get yer Hudy on too! Here are some deets:
- Hudy Delight and Hudy 14-K official Cincinnati Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Can release
- Jake Speed and the Freddie’s perform a special baseball themed show 9:30AM-12:00PM
- WNKU broadcasting live from courtyard
- Special baseball-themed performances
- Free hot dog buffet for 2 hours after the game.
- Great prizes, including antique Hudy gear!

John Morrell Tailgate
Third & Race
10:30-First Pitch
Paul Daugherty can go get his hotdog on at this sushi-free tailgate party. Our homeboy Clayton Anderson will be rockin’ the stage and the Reds Rally Pack will be there to terrorize everyone (in a pleasant way) and probably giveaway some stuff. Don’t be tardy for the party – starts at 10:30am, holmes. Beer sales support the American Red Cross.
–
Catcher in the Rye Tapping & Opening Day Celebration!
Rock Bottom Brewery (Map!)
9 am – 12 am
The Rock is kicking things off at 9am with a signature breakfast menu and the tapping of their Catcher in the Rye Ale. Sounds like a party to us.
–
Hang with Mo Egger & Friends
Gameworks (Map!)
8am – Noon
Join Mo live from 8:00am to Noon on Opening Day at Gameworks. Special guests include: C. Trent Rosecrans, Miss Ohio Amanda Tempel, Former Red Chris Sexton and more! We smell a Dance Dance Revolution competition brewing… do you?
–
Save Second Base
Hofbrauhaus (Map!)
This event at Hofbrauhaus would make our list strictly based on the name alone, but they’ve got a great little shin-dig kickin’. Proceeds from the Opening Day festivities at the ‘haus benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Get yourself a beer and pretzel then head over the Purple People Bridge to the game and have another beer and another pretzel.
