Just to up the randomness, here's a 1979 Cincinnati Reds Bill Dawley St. Patrick's Day game-used jersey.

Red is green… for a day

The good fellas over at UniWatch have a fantastic article on the origins of the green St. Patrick’s Day uniform in baseball. Of course, our Reds started the whole thing 35 years ago today when then General Manager Dick Wagner cooked up the promotional stunt. Some players were not amused at the time, but ultimately they took the field in their green Cincinnati Reds uniforms and something of a tradition was born. Check the article on UniWatch.

If you want to see some green in action today, the Reds and their #GreenHats will be on MLB Network at 4:05pm today.
