Just a Good Night at the Ball Yard

We had the pleasure of meeting two kick-ass Reds fans tonight, Jordan and Jacob, who certainly are not fair weather gents. Check out the paint job these guys pulled off. Complete with numbers on their backs. This helmet sundae's for you guys! Their buddy who was in tow apparently didn't get the memo and wore a grey t-shirt. COME ON!!! Seriously, this is kick-ass. Glad there are some die-hards sill out there. These guys got mad action on the jumboTRON tonight... We're sure they were all over the FSN broadcast as well.

Other notables from the game tonight (that mostly have nothing to do with the game):

Got a kick-ass deal on a pair of authentic jerseys at the Reds team shop. Picked up a red alternate "Cool Base" Majestic of David Ross and a grey away jersey of Ryan Freel for $25 a piece! We'll take C Trent's suggestion and get "STUBBS" on that back of the Freel jersey. Sorry, Farney. Dare we get "CASTILLO" on our #26? HAHA.

GABP Fruit Stand by Findlay MarketGABP now has a fruit stand. How awesome is that? We first heard about it from C Trent today and wanted to check it out. It's so nice to have some fresh food options at the ballpark now. Love me some hotdogs, nachos and LaRosa's calzones, but a lot of times we just don't want to fill up on junk. Had a Gala apple for $1.50 and a smoothie drink thing for $5.00. Feelin' good too. A few other folks on Twitter are stoked about it as well. We'll get back to the beers and sundaes this weekend, don't worry. More on the fruit stand from The Packer

Ummm... is Engine Company 3 the best engine company in the city? Without a doubt!

It was a BEAUTIFUL night downtown Cincinnati. Just awesome. Prefect temperature, not a cloud in the sky. Those nights at the ballpark are wonderful.

Found a penny.

And the Reds win! Matt Maloney gets his frist MLB win... Cordero locks it down in the ninth. Fun game to watch.

Alright, folks

Damn Cubs fans and their damn Snuggies - FAIL!
Okay Reds fans, you're being testing right now. Our team just dunn got swept by the Brew, our savior Joey Votto is on the DL for some mysterious reason and we're heading into St. Louis to face serial Reds Killer A. Pujols and he band of merry chubs.

This is where a hell of a lot of Reds fans will be jumping off ye ol' bandwagon.

We can't let it happen though. The Reds will be back in town this weekend with the Cubs and their damn fans and their damn Snuggies coming with them. We should never have to say this, but we have to rally. Get your butt down to the ballpark this weekend, get your Reds gear on and root your ass off. You and the greater 'Nati area will be better for it. Shut the Cubs fans out of our park. We don't want to see any blue there this weekend.

Plus, there's some nice swag being handed out this weekend. You know us, we're suckers for free crap. Saturday is baseball card night. Sweet! Sunday the Reds are giving fans a matted photo of Joey Votto... with 500 of them actually signed by the man, himself. Can you believe that? MATTED! Those things are expensive at Michael's (make sure you bring a coupon, that always helps). Too bad JV won't be in the house for all that jazz. And, if that wasn't enough, mister 50-homers-in-a-season George Foster will be signing autos and kissing babies in the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum before the game on Saturday. Make sure to wish him luck on Dancing with the Stars.

And who doesn't want to see the Reds beat the hell out of Dempster? Friday night - It's on!

Reds Rally Game: Near EPIC WIN!!1!

Reds Rally Game: EPIC WIN
Finally, I won the damn Reds Rally game today. Everyone else in the ballpark did too. It must have been all that faith from Faith Day going around. So, no big prize for me, though. The 25 items they give away for the game were long gone by time BP hit the three-run jack to help me complete a row. So, I'm prizeless, but I feel good about winning. I really do.

It was a good day at the ballpark. Not only did I win the Rally Game, I also got my photo with Rosie and the Reds routed the Pouljos Nine. I had not been to a game in three weeks, and a lot has happened since then. Most notably: lots of losing. Seeing a big win was a treat. Oh - I also saw that big EE is getting some dental work. Lookin' good!

In the past, we've mentioned the baseball card deal they have at GABP - buy four packs of baseball cards and get two free Reds tickets. If you buy four now, there are actually three games you can choose from: September 2-4. That's a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday is a Business Man's special, of course. So, just a heads up on that deal. When I did the deal a few weeks ago we got decent seats in the View Level.

I'm not a fairweather Reds fan

Jay Bruce and Joey Votto
But they've been testing me lately. I know I'm not alone.

The past two weeks have been miserable. Junior gone. Dunn gone. A ton of losses. 3 players suspended for using steroids. Former manager Dave Miley's son dies in a car crash. It's been a rough few weeks for the Reds and their fans. Hell, even now the folks in Sarasota are talking about putting up big bucks for the Reds Sox to move their spring training home there after snubbing the Reds for years. Amazing.

But, I'm sticking with them. I always have, I always will. I'll probably watch the Olympics instead of the Reds this week, but I'll be back. I'll probably still get to a few games before the end of the season too. Redsfest will be here before we know it and hope will once again abound. Lets hope these young guys take control of the team and get things going. Next year could be a lot of fun. Either way, I'll still be there, still a Reds fan.

OMGnyc

OMGreds.com Road Trip to New York
OMGreds is off to the Big Apple this weekend to watch the Reds battle the Yankees. It will be the last year of historic Yankee Stadium, so we figured we would make the trip. We'll be heading to the game on Sunday where Johnny Cueto and Andy Pettitte are scheduled to duke it out. We've got seats in the non-alcoholic section out in left, so no craziness from us. But, I'll be able to strike up a conversation with David Weathers since we'll be sitting just above the visitor's bullpen.

Of course, we'll be bringing you all the fuzzy-photo action over on the OMGreds.com photo blog. Make sure to check it out if you're bored this weekend.

BRUCEpie

Jay Bruce Shaving Cream Pie
Folks, you knew it was going to be a special night. If you didn't go to ballpark and get a walk-up ticket, you were watching at home. Something special was going to happen - our savior is playing!

Okay, maybe Jay Bruce isn't the Reds' savior, but damn, the future looks pretty good.

Oh, and how about that blast by Dunn? MONSTA! Just as monsta as the David Ross delivered double-barreled pie-in-the-face to Bruce. See above.

Come on Cueto!

Johnny Cueto
Homie, let's do it tonight. I'm going to the game tonight... with a Cubs fan... that I owe a beer. It's already stacking up to be a bad night. How about we snap this streak and put a beatdown on DUMPstar and the sCrubs. Harness the power of Mario Soto!

Anyways, I'll be posting anything interesting up on the photoblog tonight.

Go Reds!

Reds... let's get our shit together!

The Reds start a three game battle with the Cubs tonight. It should be a blood bath for the next three days. The photo really has nothing to do with anything we are posting... we just posted it. Go Reds. May the power of Mr. Redlegs be with you.
