Hi World Series, nice to meet you

Coolers with wheels!
It was by fluke chance that we were in Philly while the World Series was going on, so we had to take advantage and see what all the hub-bub was about. We posted mad updates on Twitter Saturday afternoon from Citizen's Bank Park, but here are some more visual highlights from game three of the 2009 World Series for ya.

Just a Good Night at the Ball Yard

We had the pleasure of meeting two kick-ass Reds fans tonight, Jordan and Jacob, who certainly are not fair weather gents. Check out the paint job these guys pulled off. Complete with numbers on their backs. This helmet sundae's for you guys! Their buddy who was in tow apparently didn't get the memo and wore a grey t-shirt. COME ON!!! Seriously, this is kick-ass. Glad there are some die-hards sill out there. These guys got mad action on the jumboTRON tonight... We're sure they were all over the FSN broadcast as well.

Other notables from the game tonight (that mostly have nothing to do with the game):

Got a kick-ass deal on a pair of authentic jerseys at the Reds team shop. Picked up a red alternate "Cool Base" Majestic of David Ross and a grey away jersey of Ryan Freel for $25 a piece! We'll take C Trent's suggestion and get "STUBBS" on that back of the Freel jersey. Sorry, Farney. Dare we get "CASTILLO" on our #26? HAHA.

GABP Fruit Stand by Findlay MarketGABP now has a fruit stand. How awesome is that? We first heard about it from C Trent today and wanted to check it out. It's so nice to have some fresh food options at the ballpark now. Love me some hotdogs, nachos and LaRosa's calzones, but a lot of times we just don't want to fill up on junk. Had a Gala apple for $1.50 and a smoothie drink thing for $5.00. Feelin' good too. A few other folks on Twitter are stoked about it as well. We'll get back to the beers and sundaes this weekend, don't worry. More on the fruit stand from The Packer

Ummm... is Engine Company 3 the best engine company in the city? Without a doubt!

It was a BEAUTIFUL night downtown Cincinnati. Just awesome. Prefect temperature, not a cloud in the sky. Those nights at the ballpark are wonderful.

Found a penny.

And the Reds win! Matt Maloney gets his frist MLB win... Cordero locks it down in the ninth. Fun game to watch.

It's opening day, nooch!

Opening Day Parage hilarity
Headed down the the parade and game today. Follow along on Twitter and our Photoblog. Might throw something up on Twitpic as well. Gotta keep everyone happy, right?

Go Reds!!!

UPDATE #1 It's nasty out there! But, we've got a few photos from the parade for you, including Cows on Segways.

UPDATE #2 Well, this one didn't belong to the Reds. Lack of HAVOC, we suppose. All the photos from our day around downtown are right here.

More photos from Spring Training

Joey Votto hittin' the rock
We're catching up on getting some more photos from Spring Training up over on the OMGreds Photo Blog. Another weekend, another OMGer down in Florida to catch the action. We've got photos from the Reds/Rays game this past Saturday, and photos are coming tonight for Reds/Phillies on Tuesday. We also snuck in a Yankees/Pirates game in Tampa too.

Finally! More WBC photos

Poor Joey Votto
We've posted some select photos of our trip to Toronto and the World Baseball Classic over in the OMGreds photoblog. Nothing too exciting - just some flavor from up north. A little Dunn, a little Votto... It's all good in the hood.

Seriously, more photos this weekend. We'll be at the Reds game on Saturday down in sunny Sarasota. Check the photoblog for the all the helmet sundae action.

Photos from Spring Training

Brandon Phillips waves to the crowd at Ed Smith Stadium
OMGer Dave was down in Florida this past weekend for some Grapefruit League action. He was able to watch the Redlegs and Bucs play last week at Ed Smith in Sarasota as well as a Rays/Red Sox game in Port Charlotte.

Dave posted a slew of photos from his trip, including some bonus pics of former Red Marcus McBeth, now with the Red Sox.

More photos are coming very soon - more from this past weekend's WBC games in Toronto, as well as some more spring training action this weekend. We'll be at the Reds/Rays game on Saturday. Keep checking the photo blog for more updates.

If you missed the mobile photos from Toronto from last weekend, click it here.

New scoreboard at GABP

GABP new scoreboard
The new scoreboard has been installed at GABP and they were testing it today and this evening. Either side of the HUGE full-color HD display are blank right now, just waiting for more boards to be installed. The photo doesn't do it much justice - it looks fantastic. Can't wait to see replays of Brandon Phillips flashing his Gold Glove out at 2nd base this season.

Also - the 4192 Club is completely torn out right now. It's just down to the bare bones. Looks like that renovation might come down to the wire and finish just in time for opening day.

Need more leather?

Ah, you can read about ol' Leatherpants everywhere else! How about some stuff about the Reds and uniforms! Yeah! So, over at our new favorite blog, Uni Watch, they have a nice roundup of MLB photo day around spring training camps, including a few photos of our Reds.

Brandon Phillips and his goatBP, seriously, the goat is getting out of control. Tell me you are growing it until we get into the playoffs, or some other silly reason? Or, Griffey put Rogaine in your chinstrap as a joke and you can't keep it reigned in? Junior is like that.

Redsfest: Back at ya!

REDSFEST: DAY TWO
My night at Redsfest was a little short last night, but today is on like Donkey Kong.

I poked around the festivities a little bit, but my main focus was getting some autographs last night. First up was Dusty Baker who was nice and chatty with all the fans. Fun to talk to for a few seconds. Thanks, Dusty. I got in line for Chris Dickerson and Norris Hopper after Dusty, but was too late and didn't end up getting signatures from those guys. No more signings happened until 6:30, so I got in line very early for Clay Carroll and Jim O'Toole so I would make sure I got to meet them before I had to jet. I got fantastic signatures from both.

Stuff to look for:

- My Home Skillet Tabari said he saw some great deals at the collectibles tables. That can be rare.

- There are tables located around Redsfest handing out Topps baseball cards of a few players. They are Redsfest branded cards, perfect for autographs. I picked up Joey Votto, Aaron Harrang and Chirs Dickerson. I know there are more... Bronson Arroyo and Brandon Phillips for sure... and probably a few others.

- The kids play areas are awesome. You little ones will have a blast.

More photos today... watch out.

Redsfest: Ahoy!

COFFEEEEEE TIME!
It's that time of year, boys and girls. REDSFEST TIME! We here at OMGreds celebrate it to it's fullest. It's where hope for the upcoming season springs eternal and the autographs flow like fine Two Buck Chuck. We love it. We revel in it. We even wallow in it a little bit. As is customary with anything that crosses Reds with Kickass we'll be there and photoblogin' that shizz. So, keep your eyes peeled over there and drop us a few comments on our lackluster mobile phone photography.

2008 Redsfest goals:

- Ron Oester autograph on our '87 Topps
- Photo with Brandon Phillips' pearly white grill
- A lock of The Cowboy's mullet
- Pitching tips from Chris Welsh
- Heckle the Bronson Arroyo Band
- High five Walt Jocketty
- Strike out Joey Votto in wiffle ball
- Do Da Dip with Rosie Red
- Give Jim Day a noogie.

Have you seen the list of Reds folks that will be appearing? Impressive to say the list.

See ya there.

Junior night

I have to say, the Griffey banner at GABP is pretty nice. It's DAMN big. It's also great to have a Reds player bring portrayed bigger than life at the stadium. You can see the damn thing all the way across downtown! Say what you will about his career here in Cincinnati, but he has been a great asset to the game from day one.

Congrats to Griffey... he deserves it.

More photos from Griffey night are up on the photo blog.

Click on the photo to the left for a larger view. Food from that nights game is up on OMG Helmet Sundae for all you ballpark foodies out there.

Beautiful Day

Great American Ball Park
But Bill Hall went and done killed us again. Nice to see Cueto with another pretty good outing, but the offense needs to give our young arms some support.

Today was fleece blanket day - but I got there too late to get one. Ah well... it looked pretty nice, too.

OMG! It was Opening Day

Craziness
The ENTIRE OMGreds.com staff is bummed out about the Reds' loss today in the opening game. We have a day to heal up tomorrow and the Reds will be back at it Wednesday night.

Until then, you can admire the lame camera-phone-photography over at the photo blog. Are we plugging the photo blog enough for you? If we mention photo blog too much, will you not come back? Photo blog. All in all, not bad photos, but we could have done better. We didn't even chase down Mr. Redlegs. We'll get 'em next time, yo.

There are some nice photos up on "THAT OTHER BLOG" too, if you're interested. Some bullshit about helmet sundaes or something. Whatevs.

From Sarasota

Ken Griffey Jr. catch
It's warm. It's nice. No complaints. Not missing Cincy much right now at all. How is it up there?

Anyways, got a chance to catch the Reds and Bucs get it on Saturday. It was a fun game to watch - Junior and Dunn go deep and Chris Dickerson hit a shot that it still orbiting the earth. The Pirates defense was absolutely AWFUL. My god. It was horrible. You have no clue. Oh, and I got a GREAT photo of Griffey making a pretty nice over-the-shoulder catch in right field (see above). Balls to right field seemed to be a problem... everyone was having trouble playing fly balls hit out there. I guess the wind was swirling or something? I dunno.

It was a beautiful day to watch a ballgame in Florida. If you haven't had a chance - check out photos from my camera phone on the OMGreds.com photos page. There are a few extras in there from the Beach (Longboat Key) and one from the finish of the Sarasota Half-Marathon. Yes, I got in a Reds game and a race. Busy weekend. The rest is devoted to the beach. Oh - more photos are up on flickr, too.

Spring Training or Bust

Old spring training photo
Hey ya'll OMGreds.com fans... I'll be in Sarasota this weekend to take in the sunshine and a little baseball. I'll be photoblogging for OMGreds.com right here on our new photos page during the Reds/Pirates game on March 1. Look for more (and better) photos after the weekend. I'll also be trying to get Brook Jacoby and Chris Speier autographs. Which me luck!
