Hi World Series, nice to meet you

Coolers with wheels!
It was by fluke chance that we were in Philly while the World Series was going on, so we had to take advantage and see what all the hub-bub was about. We posted mad updates on Twitter Saturday afternoon from Citizen's Bank Park, but here are some more visual highlights from game three of the 2009 World Series for ya.

Joey Votto hittin' the rock
We're catching up on getting some more photos from Spring Training up over on the OMGreds Photo Blog. Another weekend, another OMGer down in Florida to catch the action. We've got photos from the Reds/Rays game this past Saturday, and photos are coming tonight for Reds/Phillies on Tuesday. We also snuck in a Yankees/Pirates game in Tampa too.

Road Trip: Toronto

OMGreds.com Road Trip - Toronto
World Baseball ClassicAlright, folks. OMGreds is back on the road this year. First stop: Toronto for some World Baseball Classic action. Yep, that's right. We're trekking up north to catch some baseball, and to hit a couple of Tim Horton's while we are there too. It will be a grand ol' time.

As usual, we'll be dropping pics over on the OMGreds photoblog. Check it out over the weekend so you can live vicariously through us and our nose-bleed seats at the Rogers Centre. We'll be hitting the 2pm USA vs. Canada game on Saturday and the afternoon game on Sunday. We're even throwing a Maple Leafs game in there too. You know we like hockey too, right?

Anywhos, you ain't going to get much in the way of WBC previews from me. Our homies over at Red Reporter have that on lock. I will make sure to keep you up-to-date on the helmet sundae situation at the Rogers Centre. You know, just in case you're planning on heading up with the Reds visit during inter-league play this summer. It's important work, we know.

UPDATE: I've found out that AT&T wants to punish me for leaving the county by charging my a stupid insane rate for data transfers from my phone. International roaming: pfffft. So... photos on the blog may be a bit limited. Oh well.

Road Trip: Detroit & Toledo

Road Trip: Comerica Park & Toldeo
OMGreds.com is sending us out once a again for a baseball stadium fact-finding mission. This time: Comerica Park in Detroit and 5/3 Field in Toldeo. OMGreds.com is on a tight budget, so we have to do both of these ballparks in ONE DAY! INSANITY! Hell, we may pay quick homage to old Tiger Stadium while we're up there - and while it's still standing (somewhat).

Yep, that's right, we are trekking from Cincinnati to Detroit for the 1:05 Tigers game tomorrow against the Chicago White Sox. After that game, we are zipping down I-75 to Toledo to see the Mud Hens take on the Pawtucket Red Sox at 6:30. It will be tight, but it will be fun. You can follow along on our photo blog, of course. There's really no Reds connection to this trip, or at least not one yet, as I'm sure our stat-man Dave could dig up almost anything relevant. No Reds, it's just baseball folks!

Road Trip: AAA All-Star Game

Road Trip: AAA All-Star Game
Another road trip for the OMGreds.com crew. Tonight, we will be down the river in Louisville at the Triple-A All Star Game at Slugger Field. Future Reds (aka current Louisville Bats) pitcher Jon Adkins and catcher Ryan Hanigan have been voted as All-Stars this year. Good luck to them tonight!

Rosters for both the International League and Pacific Coast league can be found here.

You can catch some of the action over on the OMGreds.com photoblog. We'll be putting up some fuzzy photos as it all goes down.

Miley to Manage AAA ASG

Dave Miley
You've probably been too busy voting for Junior to start the MLB All-Star game to notice that the AAA All-Star Game is happening just down the river from us in Louisville, KY.

OMGreds.com will be making the trek to "The L" to partake in the festivities for the "not yet ready for prime time players". While we're there, we'll say hi to an old homeboy of ours - Dave Miley. After getting the boot from the Reds back in '05, Dave has been with the Yankees organization the past three years as manager of the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees. Miley has been chosen to manage the International League team at the AAA All-Star Game this year. The Yankees have gone 50-37 under Miley's direction this season, good for 2nd place in the IL North Division. Bats Manager Rick Sweet will help him with the coaching at the game.

Louisville Bats' catcher Ryan Hanigan (.296) and closer Jon Adkins (14 saves) have been named to the International League All-Star team. Sweet!

Doin' Cincy proud

The Reds have decided to take it up a few notches this weekend and give hell to the New York Yankees. I'll be at the ballgame on Sunday to watch it all fall apart. OK, hopefully not. I have faith.

I have to say though, Reds fans are comin' through this weekend! I've seen a ton of folks out on the streets of NYC sporting their Reds gear. Unfortunately, we have a few folks like the man above. Dude is rockin' the J-Bench throwback smartly tucked into his white jeans complete with a red belt. SMOOOOOOOOOOTH.

We certainly aren't going to win on the fashion tip in NYC, but at least we will win the series on the field.

Look for fuzzy photos tomorrow.

OMGnyc

OMGreds.com Road Trip to New York
OMGreds is off to the Big Apple this weekend to watch the Reds battle the Yankees. It will be the last year of historic Yankee Stadium, so we figured we would make the trip. We'll be heading to the game on Sunday where Johnny Cueto and Andy Pettitte are scheduled to duke it out. We've got seats in the non-alcoholic section out in left, so no craziness from us. But, I'll be able to strike up a conversation with David Weathers since we'll be sitting just above the visitor's bullpen.

Of course, we'll be bringing you all the fuzzy-photo action over on the OMGreds.com photo blog. Make sure to check it out if you're bored this weekend.

Voltron... Save Us!

Volton
Edinson Volquez takes the hill today for the Reds in Chicago. We'll be there and we'll be square... especially after last night's street alley beat down. Did the Cubs have to take our wallet too? There was nothing in except photos of Junior's kids.

OMGreds.com heads to Wrigley

OMGreds.com - Total Awesome
Two intrepid OMGreds.com staffers members will be treking to Chicago's Wrigley Field tomorrow (4/17) for the Reds/Cubs afternoon matchup. We'll be posting photos of the day trip on the OMGreds.com Photo Blog, so check in often to witness the Reds winning the rubber game of the series that afternoon.

Things we are looking for at Wrigley:

• Good Beers
• Reds Fans
• The Fukudometer dudes
• Cubs fans diving in the outfield net
Crying
• Helmet Sundaes

In other site news, an OMGreds group has been started over at Last.fm. If you're on Last.fm, please join us! We like baseball a whole lot, but we love our tunes too. So, let's be social about it, okay?

From Sarasota

Ken Griffey Jr. catch
It's warm. It's nice. No complaints. Not missing Cincy much right now at all. How is it up there?

Anyways, got a chance to catch the Reds and Bucs get it on Saturday. It was a fun game to watch - Junior and Dunn go deep and Chris Dickerson hit a shot that it still orbiting the earth. The Pirates defense was absolutely AWFUL. My god. It was horrible. You have no clue. Oh, and I got a GREAT photo of Griffey making a pretty nice over-the-shoulder catch in right field (see above). Balls to right field seemed to be a problem... everyone was having trouble playing fly balls hit out there. I guess the wind was swirling or something? I dunno.

It was a beautiful day to watch a ballgame in Florida. If you haven't had a chance - check out photos from my camera phone on the OMGreds.com photos page. There are a few extras in there from the Beach (Longboat Key) and one from the finish of the Sarasota Half-Marathon. Yes, I got in a Reds game and a race. Busy weekend. The rest is devoted to the beach. Oh - more photos are up on flickr, too.

Spring Training or Bust

Old spring training photo
Hey ya'll OMGreds.com fans... I'll be in Sarasota this weekend to take in the sunshine and a little baseball. I'll be photoblogging for OMGreds.com right here on our new photos page during the Reds/Pirates game on March 1. Look for more (and better) photos after the weekend. I'll also be trying to get Brook Jacoby and Chris Speier autographs. Which me luck!
