Red wine

Homer, Junior and B-Lark wine
WTF? I guess I did hear about some of the wine tasting events for this stuff. Proceeds are going to charity, I'm sure, so that's cool. Not sure what I will be picking any of this stuff up. I didn't look to closely, are there differences between the three "brands"?

"B-Lark"? guh.

OMGreds Winter Retreat

Cyclones and PBR
3/5s of OMGreds made it to the OMGreds.com Winter Retreat at the Cyclones game. One member made it to the front door of US Bank Arena when the game was just getting into the third period, but for some reason would not sell him a ticket, or let him in. INSANE. The last fifth, but not the least fifth is in a band known as "The Mighty". We all convened later that night to hear The Mighty play and have a few pints. In the end, a very successful retreat.

Tom Browning Bobblhead
Not too many folks in attendance tonight for the Tom "Mr. Perfect" Browning bobblehead night. It's understandable with the state that the city is in with no power and all in lots of places. Announced attendance was 19,7xx, but you know that is always higher than the actual gate attendance. Still though, a great game from the Reds, beating the Cards 7-2.

Bootleg Peanuts

Peanuts
Take that Reds! I bought these OUTSIDE the ballpark for much less than I would have paid inside. Of course all that salty goodness made me crave sweets... so I bought a Mt. Dew - but not a LARGE, just the regular size. I didn't fall for the up-sell at the register. HA! Of course, you're probably right and the large is a better value. Damn.

At least the Reds won today - and swept the Giants. Not that it's that hard to do... but when you are the Reds... it is hard to do.

Griffey White Sox jersey
This the scene over at Koch's Sporting Goods in downtown Cincinnati. For years they've had a large Mannequin outside with a Griffey jersey on during baseball season. When walking to lunch today, they were changing it to a White Sox jersey. Sad. Very Sad.

Old man with socks

Old man with socks
This guy was a trip. Not only did he have his black socks jacked all the way up to his knees, but his orthopedic shoes were also untied and about to trip him any second. It did not stop him from being the Tiger's #1 cheerleader and White Sox basher. He also schooled us on how bad former Red Todd "Roller Coaster" Jones has been as a closer for the Detroit professional baseball club. For the record, Jones did not get the save opportunity that day. Maybe they were just giving him the rest ;)

Standing room only

Standing room only
We had standing room only tickets for this game at Comerica Park and we got to watch the game from some great spots. They did a really nice job of building alternate viewing areas into the ballpark. You're allowed to stand along much of the terrace level against the wall during the game. Not a bad view at all.

Standing room only at Great American Ballpark is a lot less accommodating.

Comerica Park Scoreboard

Comerica Park Scoreboard
Paul says that Comerica Park has a better scoreboard than Great American Ballpark. I beg to differ.

His stance was basically that Comerica's listed more statistical information than GABP's. I'll give him that, it did have a few more stats, but not THAT much. I think GABP's layout is much better and the ads are not quite as intrusive. While the Comerica board has a great topper with "Tigers" spelled across the top, it's just not as good as GABP's with the ultra-wide layout and great color monitor.

Any other thoughts out there?

Helmet ice cream in a Orioles helmet
What the hell Louisville? Can't you get some Bats helmets made up to serve your ice cream in? I can get a Dragons helmet up in Dayton and a Legends helmet in Lexington... but no Bats helmet in Louisville? Absolute silliness. I guess I'll take the Orioles helmet this time, but next time I may just pass on the helmet sundae. Harsh, I know... but that's how I roll.
