Dennis Dixon

If you happen to be watching the Sunday Night Football game tonight, you might have heard them talk about Pittsburgh’s third string QB Dennis Dixon. Dixon, who is getting the start tonight because of injuries, just happend to be a highly recruited baseball player who was drafted in the 20th round by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2003 draft. He never signed with the Reds and went on to attend Oregon.

It only took 19 years

Sorry for my inept attempt at writing an obscure sports fact. While the Reds and Bengals have won 11 times on the same day since 1990, the stat I heard was it was the first time since 1990 either time had won by 7 or more points. The Reds beat San Diego 9-2 on September 23, 1990. Weak, yes I know. I’m sure you’re booing me through the computer right now. Trust me I can hear it. Thanks for the heads up by the few peeps who pointed it out.

Can you believe it was 1990 since the last time the Reds and Bengals won on the same day? Yikes, right?
