Information from Cincy Card Shows:

Thanks for all your support over the last few signings with Cozart and Frazier as we look to keep bringing in guys for you to meet. With hearing of Pedro Borbon’s passing we have put together an event that has already started gaining a lot of attention. Ken Broo has already picked up the story and will play Pedro Borbon’s interview that we set up for him in April on his show Sunday as well as talk to Steve about Monday nights event. The following is what went out this morning to local news and radio.

Cincinnati, June 07, 2012: As most of you know by now the City of Cincinnati lost a great man this week with the passing of Pedro Borbon. Pedro was a great friend to us and had done several autograph signings over the past few years at our Moeller High School sports card and memorabilia shows. We were lucky enough to be able to bring him in a little over a month ago April 27th and April 28th to spend time with us and the many collectors that showed up to meet him.

When Pedro came in to town for us 5 years ago for the first time he asked if we could pay him the same amount whether he drove or took us up on a plane ticket. We agreed and he packed up the family and drove 1800 miles from the Mexico border with his wife Maria and kids. With this in mind as soon as we heard about his passing we decided we were going to do a fund raiser for Maria and the kids.

Monday, June 11th at Moeller High School we will be having a sports memorabilia sale and Homer Bailey autograph signing. Included in the sale will be Pedro Borbon signed 8×10′s that he did for us at his last signing. The sale will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. and the Homer Bailey signing will go from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A portion of all sales will go to the Borbon family. Moeller High School is located at 9001 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.

At the event we will also accept donations for the family. If anyone can’t attend the event but would still like to contribute to the Borbon family you can send a check make out to Maria Borbon to Steve Schell, 601 Eagle View Drive, Mason, Ohio 45040.

Thank you for everyone’s time and please let us know if you need any other information.

We hope to see you tomorrow Monday JUNE 11th!

On a side note, I had the pleasure of meeting Pedro on several occasions the past few years and he couldn’t have been any nicer. I even made it to his recent autograph signing at the Moeller Card Show back in April. It was great to see him, nice to get an autograph and wonderful to just to say hello. In 2010, I met his family at the Reds Hall of Fame Gala. They are a wonderful family and it was an honor getting to know them a little bit. I was saddened to hear that we lost Pedro last week and behalf of all of OMGreds, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Borbon family.

2012 Reds Bobbleheads

2012 Reds and Reds Hall of Fame Bobbleheads

2012 Reds and Reds Hall of Fame Bobbleheads

Both the Reds and Reds Hall of Fame & Museum recently released their bobbelehead promotions for 2012. Reds fans have a bevy of bobbleheads from current and past players to collect during the upcoming season. Interestingly, all of the Reds bobbleheads, except for Johnny Cueto, are for players that have been featured as a ceramic nodder in the past. For a list of past Reds bobbleheads, click here.

Reds (Promotional Schedule)

Sat, May 12 – Joey Votto
Sat, Jun 23 – Sean Casey (2012 Reds Hall of Famer)
Wed, Jul 18 – Jay Bruce
Sat, Aug 4 – Johnny Cueto

Just a heads up, bobbleheads are limited to 25,000 fans per date this season. It’s been 30-40,000 the past few seasons. This year marks the return of the weeknight bobblehead giveaway. It’s been quite a few years since the Reds have done that. Not sure when the last one was. Anyone remember?

Reds Hall of Fame & Museum (RedsMuseum.org)

April – Cesar Geronimo
May – George Foster
June – Dan Driessen (2012 Reds Hall of Famer)
July – Ken Griffey, Sr.
August – Dave Concepcion
September – Joe Morgan

Individual memberships receive Geronimo and Foster. Family membership receive those plus Driessen and Griffey, Sr.

September’s bobblehead has been announced! It’s Joe Morgan.

Alright, folks

Damn Cubs fans and their damn Snuggies - FAIL!
Okay Reds fans, you’re being testing right now. Our team just dunn got swept by the Brew, our savior Joey Votto is on the DL for some mysterious reason and we’re heading into St. Louis to face serial Reds Killer A. Pujols and he band of merry chubs.

This is where a hell of a lot of Reds fans will be jumping off ye ol’ bandwagon.

We can’t let it happen though. The Reds will be back in town this weekend with the Cubs and their damn fans and their damn Snuggies coming with them. We should never have to say this, but we have to rally. Get your butt down to the ballpark this weekend, get your Reds gear on and root your ass off. You and the greater ‘Nati area will be better for it. Shut the Cubs fans out of our park. We don’t want to see any blue there this weekend.

Plus, there’s some nice swag being handed out this weekend. You know us, we’re suckers for free crap. Saturday is baseball card night. Sweet! Sunday the Reds are giving fans a matted photo of Joey Votto… with 500 of them actually signed by the man, himself. Can you believe that? MATTED! Those things are expensive at Michael’s (make sure you bring a coupon, that always helps). Too bad JV won’t be in the house for all that jazz. And, if that wasn’t enough, mister 50-homers-in-a-season George Foster will be signing autos and kissing babies in the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum before the game on Saturday. Make sure to wish him luck on Dancing with the Stars.

And who doesn’t want to see the Reds beat the hell out of Dempster? Friday night – It’s on!

Dancin’ with Foster

George Foster on Dancing with the Stars
Homeboy Hal McCoy has a fun little column about George Foster and who else from the Reds past he would NOT want to see on Dancing With the Stars. We at OMG couldn’t agree more. You saw the petition, right? Well, you can sign the online one right here.

George… man, just do your thing. If dancing is going to make you happy… then go for it. We might actually watch the show then. Well… maybe not. But hey, it’s worth a shot.
