2006 Bowman
ACQUIRED: From my homeboy Brad over at Cincy Reds Cards
PING: Probably one of Joey’s first cards among the big manufacturers. Not a bad one, either. The photo features him playing in the 2006 All-Star Futures game in Pittsburgh where he went 1 for 2. Homer Bailey also played in that game.
2008 Topps Heritage Chrome T205 Series
DATA: 2008 Topps Heritage Chrome T205 Series (TCCP6)
ACQUIRED: Ebay
PING: Sweet card right here. Based on the Topps T205 series, this is the larger size chrome version of the T205 minis Topps was including as box toppers of 2008 Heritage blasters. I do have a few minis, but no Votto… on the look out for that one.
2008 Topps Chrome Copper Refractor
DATA: 2008 Topps Chrome Copper Refractor
ACQUIRED: Ebay
PING: Chromium! This dude is number 534/599. That means it’s special or something, right? I guess. The copper chrome edition isn’t the greatest, but it’s shiny, and that’s always nice. The blue refractor seems visually more special than the copper, but copper got the limited edition treatment. Well, as limited as 599 is in the card world these days.
2008 Topps Chrome Blue Refractor
DATA: 2008 Topps Chrome Blue Refractor
ACQUIRED: Ebay
PING: It’s chrome, it’s pretty. The blue variant is nice. I still don’t get all the different chrome colors Topps puts out and what it all means. Well, I guess it means I need to collect them all or something.
2008 Reds Scorecard
ACQUIRED: At Reds game on September 7, 2008.
PING: Okay, okay, this is a stretch. But, it contains three things vital to baseball cards: 1) It’s baseball 2) it’s on cardboard. Hell, it says “Reds Card” at the top and it’s based on the Reds SGA baseball card design.
I usually don’t keep score at game, but when I saw Votto rockin’ the cover of the scorecard at the Reds/Cubs game… I figured I would track the game. What a great game it was too! The Reds came back and beat the Cubs in the bottom of the ninth. I went to the game with 3 Cubs fans too. SWEET.
2008 Topps Chrome
ACQUIRED: Ebay
PING: Topps Chrome is damn pretty. Here’s big JV in his spring training getup, probably from 2007 judging by the BP jersey and the pinstripe pants. Not the best photo, but we’ll take it.
2008 Reds SGA

DATA: 2008 Reds SGA
ACQUIRED: The Reds Team Set was given away on Sunday, August 31, 2008
PING: This set has great photography and Votto’s card is no exception. The design is not as strong as last year’s SGA set. They really junked it up using TWO lame faux handwriting typefaces. But hey… they were free and you get a coupon for $.75 off TWO packages of Kahn’s Hot Dog. Can’t beat that, eh?
2008 Topps Allen & Ginter

DATA: 2008 Topps Allen & Ginter
ACQUIRED: Pulled from a box bust
PING: This is a badass card, don’t you agree? The new Allen & Ginter cards are pretty sweet and Votto’s card is classic. The only thing that would have made this card better would have been an action shot. Regardless, this one would be great for an autograph.
2008 Topps Heritage
ACQUIRED: Have several from ripping packs of Topps Heritage
PING: One of my favorites. Love the design of the ‘59 Topps set. Great card for a great rookie.
Greetings, programs
Nothing too complicated here – Joey Votto baseball cards. vottoTRON has a pretty small, but growing collection of them now. We’ll be posting what we got here and entertaining any trades you may have. Just drop us a line at vottotron [at] omgreds dot com.
Why vottoTRON? Well, “VottoMatic” was just too damn easy. Does it make sense? Not really. The opportunity for niffty graphics does expand exponentially. Oh, and Joey Votto is a true Canadian badass. Maybe it would make more sense if we had a “Strange Brew” theme here. Hmm….
Anywhat, if you need a little inspiration to go with vottoTRON…
