First and foremost, it’s important to focus on your mental preparation as you get ready for your first marathon. Remember that it’s going to be a long and challenging day. You can’t prepare for everything that’ll happen – but that doesn’t mean you should give up!

If you’re training for the marathon, remember to take care of yourself throughout the process. Make sure you eat well, get enough sleep, and watch your caffeine intake so it doesn’t negatively impact your performance.
Nutrition
Eating the right foods at the right time is one of the best ways to ensure that you have enough energy for a long race. Eat smaller meals and snacks throughout the day, and don’t worry about eating more than that.
Hydrate Your Body
It’s important to replace lost electrolytes during your run.
Carry an electrolyte replacement drink in your hydration belt or pocket. This helps prevent cramping, muscle spasms, headaches, nausea, and dizziness.
Try adding lemon juice to water. Adding lemon juice can help increase performance by about 8 percent! It also gives you a bit of a boost in energy when running on empty.
